About Corinne

Corinne McCafferty has extensive experience working with donkeys, mules and horses. She is a fully Certified Horse Behaviour Consultant with the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC) and a Registered Accredited Animal Behaviourist with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC). She holds an MA in Psychology and an MSc in Animal Behaviour, attained at the University of Glasgow and the University of Exeter respectively. 

Corinne has extensive experience with horses, donkeys and mules, working as part of The Donkey Sanctuary’s Behaviour Team since 2018. She has worked with many equines that have complex behavioural issues and has played an active role in delivering essential interventions to equines with behavioural issues. She has experience with:

  • Separation anxiety

  • Loading

  • Veterinary handling (including worming, IV injections, and rectal temperature taking).

  • Foot handling

  • Catching

  • Aggression

  • Leading problems

  • Resilience and confidence

  • Foal handling, including orphaned foal interventions

  • Ridden problems (including bolting, bucking and mounting problems)

  • Tacking up issues

  • Stereotypies and chronic stress

Corinne works under vet referral and collaborates with other equine professionals in order to fully investigate problems and give her clients the best care and advice.
